David Vittetoe holds a Bachelor Degree in Multi-Disciplinary Studies from Liberty University, Virginia. He studied music education and percussion performance at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  His teachers include F. Michael Combs, Keith Brown, and Dr. Brett Paschal. He has also furthered his study in drum set from Rob Leytham, Dom Famularo, and Jim Riley. Additionally, David has been a bass guitar student of Jerry DeVore. He is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, ILMEA  and holds an educator's endorsement with Innovative Percussion.


David has performed professionally all over the country in many ensembles including the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, Oak Ridge Symphony, and the St. Louis Wind Symphony. He retired as a percussionist after 23 years with the United States Air Force Regional Bands performing as principal percussionist and soloist with the concert band and drummer in many rock and jazz settings. David served in various assignments throughout the United States, including two deployments overseas in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He has shared the stage with Chuck Mangione, Winona Judd, Amy Grant, Take-6, Diamond Rio, Josh Turner and Leanne Womack. He has performed gigs in many famous arenas to include the Grand Ole Opry, Neyland Stadium, Michigan Stadium, and most recently the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts In addition to his percussion experience, David performs on bass guitar and bagpipes. 


David has been  a private teacher in the Metro East area since 2017. His students have earned spots in All State, regional honor bands, local percussion camps and hold high positions in their school band programs. He is currently the percussion director at Belleville East high school where he teaches 25 students in percussion ensemble, drum line and concert band. From 2017-2021 he was a battery technician for the O'Fallon Township Marching Panther band.  He has been an adjudicator for ILMEA auditions for 3 years. In addition to his teaching schedule, he is also an active performer in the Metro St. Louis area with his musical interests ranging from wind symphonies, Scottish pipe bands, Celtic Groups, Latin orchestras, praise and worship, Jazz, Rock and Pop bands. He is also a section percussionist for the St. Louis Wind Symphony, Highland Muny Band and plays bass guitar and drums for Enjoy Church in O'Fallon, Illinois.
